We are pleased to announce an outstanding addition to our team here at PDG Pediatric Dental Group – Dr. Janice Duong. As a former patient of Drs. Richard Kramer and Don Scheideman in pediatrics, and a patient of Drs. David Kennedy and Donal Flanagan in orthodontics, we are very excited to have Dr. Duong back within the PDG family. Currently, she is practicing in our Richmond Clinic.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Duong has demonstrated stellar academic accomplishments. She obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of British Columbia where she was selected as the dental school President and then the class Valedictorian for her graduating class. Following graduation, she practiced general dentistry in the Lower Mainland for two years before proceeding to the University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital, where she obtained her Pediatric Dentistry Specialty diploma and her Master of Science degree in Dentistry. Here, she was selected as the Chief Resident. Dr. Duong is especially proud of her training in Seattle as it not only taught her the necessary clinical skills, but it also gave her extensive training in trauma management and behaviour management, especially while working in the Medically Complex Clinic (for children and adolescents with special health care needs), the Autism Clinic, and the Sedation Clinic.

Dr. Duong has been practicing pediatric dentistry for the past few years in Mission, BC. Her commitment to pediatric oral health has also taken her to the Yukon and Northwest Territories of Canada where she provided dental work for these communities on a monthly basis. She has also enjoyed volunteering abroad in dental mission trips to schools and orphanages in Peru, Cambodia, and Kenya.

Similarly, and not surprisingly, Dr. Duong is also highly involved within the dental community. She is a part-time affiliated clinical faculty member at the University of Washington’s Center for Pediatric Dentistry, and a clinical instructor for the pediatric dental residents and pre-doctoral dental students both at the University of Washington and the University of British Columbia. She was awarded the Part-time Faculty Teaching Award in 2015 at UBC by the dental students. She is a board-certified Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCDC) in Pediatric Dentistry as well as a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also an active member of the following organizations:

  • Royal College of Dentists of Canada
  • College of Dental Surgeons of BC
  • Canadian Dental Association
  • BC Dental Association
  • Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
  • American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
  • British Columbia Society of Pediatric Dentistry
  • Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry
  • American Board of Pediatric Dentistry

Outside of the office, Dr. Duong enjoys travel, art, music, and dance, especially having grown up with extensive training in music and ballet. She also enjoys spending time with her close friends and family, especially with her husband Dr. Christian Wong, one of our orthodontists at PDG! Dr. Duong is a native of BC and loves everything that the west coast has to offer. She enjoys being a part of our community.

Dr. Duong is a special person, and we are incredibly proud that she is once again a part of the PDG family. We are confident that she will uphold the highest quality of service and dental care for you and your children.

Thank you all for your trust and confidence, and for allowing the PDG team to care for your children’s dental needs.
