Are you a candidate for orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontics is not merely for improving the aesthetics of the smile; orthodontic treatment improves bad bites. These occur as a result of tooth or jaw misalignment. It affects the way you smile, chew, clean your teeth or feel about your smile.
So, You Need Orthodontic Treatment...
You’ve consulted an orthodontist and you got the news that you need braces. Don’t be upset, getting your smile on track will bring you so many benefits! How your smile looks can affect your confidence and self esteem big time. Straightening your teeth will not only make you look great, but will help with your oral health.
The optimal time to get orthodontic treatment is in your early teens, when most people already have their full set of adult teeth and any problems you may have will be obvious.
Teenage orthodontics focus in correcting problems with tooth positioning that will improve your smile and optimize your future oral health. With aligned teeth and bite, oral care becomes easier as an adult.
Orthodontic treatment for teens focuses on:
- Correcting bite functionality and comfort.
- Improving teeth alignment.
- Eliminating premature wear on tooth surfaces.
- Enhancing self-confidence.
- Improving overall general health.
Traditional braces are still the ones that can fix most orthodontic problems and it’s very versatile. They can be metal or clear brackets that are bonded to the surface of each tooth, which in turn are joined by metal wires. Rubber bands can be used to hold the wires in place, giving you the option to choose the color!
Invisalign uses clear and removable aligners. Although it’s a virtually invisible option, it is important to note that Invisalign Teen is not suitable for every teenager who needs braces, and your child’s needs will be assessed on an individual basis to ensure their specific treatment requirements are addressed.
